Reliability Rating

Several factors determine a car’s reliability rating. Usually, if a vehicle fulfills all these factors, its insurance rates are low. So not only do you keep yourself safe by using a reliable car, but you also end up paying less for it in the long run. However, what makes a car reliable?

Manufacturers and consumers test a vehicle and deem it reliable when it meets all the standard safety regulations. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gives a car a star rating, which plays a part in whether it is reliable. Two other ratings influencing it are the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS) and the Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations (MVSR) standards.
